Multicultural Student Services - Tutoring




Students selected for the MSS/AEC Tutoring positions are professionals-in-training who are trained and expected to perform multiple duties to support the accomplishment of the MSS mission.

Tutors, working under the general supervision of the AEC Staff, perform duties vital to the academic support of students in MSS. These duties include, but are not limited to, tutoring in appropriate academic subjects, recruiting tutees, keeping accurate and timely reports and records, ongoing training, and providing further assistance as indicated by the AEC  staff. Tutors are “service providers” and bring an attitude of care and support as they encourage tutees in the academic growth process.


  • 3.25 GPA or higher
  • Be familiar or be willing to learn about the MSS programs and services including all the Student Centers, and in particular the programs, activities, and workshops offered by  the Academic Enrichment Center
  • Available to attend mandatory training and continuing education.
  • Demonstrate ability to welcome tutees, and others, and know what services to refer students to around campus.
  • Friendly, enthusiastic, and cooperative; responsible, well-organized, self-starter; pays attention to teaching and learning detail, and follows directions well.


Early priority deadline – Third week of February
